FULL MOON RISING

Charles Band’s traveling horror-palooza is back. The third installment of the independent sci fi/horror/fantasy filmmaker’s Full Moon Horror Road Show kicks off May 24 in Tempe, Arizona and will be visiting eleven other cities, wrapping up June 22 in Dallas.

“The event really gets crazier every year,” Band said. “I feel a bit like those traveling turn of the century magicians who went from city to city doing bizarre stuff on stage. And I’m very lucky that there are so many fans out who like my films and enjoy coming to the show.”

For fans of the “Puppetmaster” film series, Full Moon mooninites and general genre fanatics and gore hounds, this one night only event is a don’t-miss extravaganza. Band, the man behind 270 plus films, packs his shows to the brim with puppets, creatures, rare film clips and special guests. The event will feature unique interactive audience participations on stage, upcoming new release film trailers by Full Moon Features, original puppet and doll auctions, hot chicks, unique merchandise and novelty items and live special effects demonstrations, including decapitations.

Band and Full Moon are best known for “Puppetmaster,” which has seen eight features released to date. The franchise is the most successful independent direct to video horror film series of all time. Full Moon has also created many other well know franchises such as “Trancers” and “Subspecies.” They are also the wizards behind “Dollman,” Demoic Toys,” “Killjoy,” “Dead Man’s Hand,” “Evil Bong,” “The Gingerdead Man” and its upcoming sequel, which is subtitled “Passion of the Crust.”

In addition to all their feature film work, Full Moon is very active in creating and marketing a wide variety of merchandise including original action figures, resin statues and 1:1 scale replicas of its more well known puppets and dolls.

“The Gingerdead Man 2” will be heavily promoted throughout the road show tour. Attendees of the event will get sneak peaks at footage and advanced copies of the film will also be available. Another exclusive at the road show will be the Full Moon Features “Archive Collection,” which is an 18 DVD box set. Only 900 of them were made and there will be only 75 available per city. The sets will all be numbered and signed by Band.

It’s being kept secret who will show up where, but celebrities mentioned as possibly popping up at events include Tim Thomerson (“Trancers”), Sid Haig (“Dead Man’s Hand”), Bill Moseley (“Evil Bong”), William Shatner (“Full Moon Fright Night,”) Robin Sydney (“The Gingerdead Man”) and “Disco” David DeCoteau, who has directed close to 70 films, including “Puppet Master III: Toulon’s Revenge.” Charles’ family (son Alex - the lead singer of The Calling – and brother Richard, who has scored a ton of stuff, including most recently episodes of “Masters of Horror”) will be at random shows as well.

“The show is absolutely unique and totally unpredictable,” Band said. “It’s extremely interactive and I’m really excited to get back on the road and have fun with all the fans.”
